Course description

The objective of this course is to provide the knowledge needed to assist tax preparers in advising their clients (with employees or S-Corporation) on the purpose and benefits of starting an Accountable Plan. This type of plan can be initiated to help alleviate the expenses employees sometimes have to pay as a part of their jobs due to the fact that most employees can no longer use Form # 2106 to deduct these expenses from their tax returns.

Learning Objectives:

1.    Participants will be introduced to the Accountable Plans.

2.    Participants will be able to discuss the IRS's three standards for Accountable Plans.

3.    At the end of the course participants will understand the safe harbor rules regarding a reasonable period of time for reimbursement submission or the return of excess advanced allowance.

4.    An example of a written Accountable Plan will be highlighted at the end.

OUTLINE OF ASSESSMENT

Accessing the final exam: Once you have reviewed all the material and taken the review quizzes, you can then select Take Exam and submit online. Once submitted, your exam is graded. You must receive a score of 70% or higher to pass and receive your CE credit(s).

Credit(s) for this course: 1 CE credit

How is credit received?

All tax professionals who would like to receive credit for this course will need to complete the final assessment, a test, with a grade of 70% or higher.

Certificate of Completing: You will receive a certificate of completion within 48 hrs. of completing the course. We report CPE hours on a quarterly basis to the IRS, with the last report of the year sent on December 28th.
